ANE rehabilitated two ponds in liben wereda

It is known that 60 % of our body is made up of water and “we can only live three to five days without fluids”. Beyond the scientific truth pastoralists and agro pastoralist depend on water for sustaining herds as well as their own health and survival. Peoples, who reside in area where shortage of water exists, excavate ponds to reservoir water. This may serve for domestic and livestock as well as irrigation for crops.

Before 65 years ago in liben district Arda Bururi kebele, after observing communities problem a humanitarian old person excavate one large pond which is named after his name Hara Legesse. It covers 60m width, 80m length area and 2m depth. The pond benefits more than 1400 HHs.

Although the ponds merit is countless for the community, the frequent drought forces to dry and stop giving service. Based on the request from zone administration, Woreda administration and kebele,. And the same request is delivered for Haroo Hatrii found in Miesa kebele which covered the area of 15m width, 25m length and 2m depth. ANE in collaboration with zone water office professionals and DRMO made an assessment and assure the importance of the ponds for community. ANE rehabilitated the ponds and already filled by water.
